This upgraded, versatile and user-friendly engine-powered chair allows effortless navigation of stairways and is therefore the perfect solution for two different needs. First, it enables the safe and speedy evacuation of incapacitated individuals in emergency situations. Secondly it is the perfect solution for people who live in buildings with no elevator and have trouble managing stairs.

The E-422 powered chair has an oven-painted aluminum frame and a durable plastic seat. It features an electrical engine, battery and special tracks that glide easily and smoothly up and down any staircase. The unique safety control mechanism turns off the engine immediately upon release of the operating switch. Another exclusive feature is the front tri-wheel steering system that enables precise maneuvering in narrow stairways. This lightweight chair can easily be stored in the trunk of any car. The chair comes with a matching dust cover.

Opening the chair

Grasp the handle with one hand while opening the chair with your other hand.

Folding the chair

Grasp the handle with one hand while opening the chair with your other hand.

Locking and releasing the wheels

Push the bottom part of the wheel-locking latch downwards.
To release, push the top part of the wheel-locking latch downwards.

Adjusting the handlebar

Pull the red bar upwards and adjust the handle to the desired height. Make sure it locks into place.

Closing the handlebar

Pull the red bar and push the handlebar into place.

Opening the engine

Release the locking hook and pull towards you.

Transporting up and down stairs:

  • Secure the person in the chair using the security  Secure the person in the chair using the security  straps.
  • Adjust the handlebar to the desired height.
  • Push the chair until it reaches the first step.
  • Make sure the stairs are suitable for safe  transport, and that they are not wet or  slippery as a result of water, oil or dust.
  • Tilt the chair by pushing down on the handle.
  • Press the right switch and apply light  pressure downwards on the handlebar.
  • While operating the chair, grasp the upper  part of the handlebar with both hands.
  • When you reach level ground, grasp the upper  handlebar with one hand, and use your other  hand to hold the steering handle as you turn the  chair carefully toward the next flight of stairs.

Operating the chair

  • To turn the system on and off, press the middle  To turn the system on and off, press the middle  switch. 
  • The right switch activates the stair-ascending mode.
  • The left switch activates the stair-descending mode.
  • Press the light button to operate the emergency  light.

Battery

A full battery charging cycle takes five hours, and allows for approximately 90 minutes of continuous operation. The battery can be charged without removing it from the chair.

Charging the battery

To charge the battery, the switch should be ON (1), Connect the cable to the battery, and then plug the cable into an electrical outlet (wall socket). When charging is complete, disconnect the cable from the battery, and them unplug the cable from the wall socket.

Maximizing battery life

Use original charger only when charging your battery. Begin charging process when 2 lower indicator lights are on, and continue charging until all lights are on. When the charging process is complete, do not leave the charger connected to the battery. Use a current regulator or lightening surge protector. Do not leave a battery fully charged and unused for more than a few days. When the chair is not in use, the battery should be charged every three months.
